Looklove: Brilliantly bold

24 Feb 2014

Bonsoir meine freunde!

Fashion week is yet again a marvelous source for bold outfit inspirations, so this Monday I decided to do nothing more than share with you one of my favourite streetstyle snaps so far: the sweet stylist Eva Fontanelli in a very bold coat - does anyone happen to know by whom it is, by the way?

On girls, little black dresses and fashion weeks

20 Feb 2014

Diane von Furstenberg

Mon Dieu! Is that really the time? Is that really the day? I had planned to write a post about a gazillion ages earlier, but time seems to have been slipping through my fingers lately. And I'd be lying if I'd say I didn't know where all my seconds, minutes, hours and days had gone. They went to spending time with my Beau who finally returned from his snow-escapade last Sunday (and who bought me the greatest Valentine day's gift to make up for his absence). But also and maybe even more so to my 3 youngest obsessions:

1. Watching episodes of Girls. I had been contemplating watching this series for quite a while already, since everyone kept saying that it's so amazing, but never really came round to it until The Vampire Diaries (shhht, I know, but it's my guilty pleasure) decided to go on a break and left me behind like a junkie craving for a shot. Obviously I had to find some replacement, and so it is that Girls became my methaphorical methadon. And what do you know... I got completely hooked!

2. Searching for the perfect LBD to wear to one of my best friends' wedding - and hopefully on many more occasions after that. I want it to be in a great fabric like silk, and it also has to be chic (to go to the wedding) but I want to be able to wear it casual as well, so it can't be too party-dressy, it has to have a great design, but stil neutral enough to wear often and I'd like it be from a nice brand, but not too expensive, and... well. You see my struggle? Cause Lord knows I am struggling! I even devoted an entire pinboard to the matter! So feel free to come up suggestions any time.

3. And last but not least, I've been devouring fashion shows as if they were pecan nut brownies straight from the oven. The silhouet above by Diane von Furstenberg, is one of my many, many favourites so far - with a scale-printed velvet fabric, how could it not be?

But pray do tell me, what existential matters have been on your mind as of late?

Glazed apple donuts

12 Feb 2014

Now then, my chous-chous,

Might I interest anyone in some glazed apple donuts? Yes? I already thought as much. Well, her they come:

Glazed apple donuts

Not to brag or anything, but these little f*ckers were just reeeeaaaly delish! So if you want to recreate them - honestly, I can't blame ya - here's the recipe:

(I based it on this and this recipe)

For ca. 12 donuts you need:
2 cups of flour
1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of cinnamon
1/2 tsp of nutmeg
1/2 cup of melted butter
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1 egg
2 tsp of vanilla
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of peeled and sliced apple

Mix the dry ingredients first, than add the moist ingredients. Put the dough in greased donut tins and bake for 12-15 mins at 180°C.

For the frosting:

Mix about 2 tbsp of milk with 1/2 cup of powder sugar on a plate or in a large bowl, dip your donuts and enjoy!

Nike and Bike

10 Feb 2014

Merde et triple putain! My beau has left me for his snowboard. He's only been gone for a few days, and already I feel like a part of myself has gone missing.

Funny isn't it, how easily we get used to seeing our loved ones every day and how easily we let ourselves depend on them?

But than again, if you think about it, it's actually just the same with clothing. And I know what you're thinking right now. You're thinking: "my dear petite Nimue, does really every single aspect of your life have to be related to  garments?" The answer is - I'm afraid - yes. But seriously now, what I mean is that there are some items in my wardrobe I just can't seem to live without.

In my case, I'm talking my fluffy pink feather vest, the perfect piece to add last-minute glam to any outfit, my super-comfy Cheap Monday jeans and - new to my collection, but already we are quite inseparable - my Nikes.

The Skirt

3 Feb 2014

Hi sweetpies!

How has the weekend treated you? Mine has been superfine, sunny and relaxing.

Now, over to order of the day: my outfit. The skirt I'm sportig has been part of wardrobe for several months now, and in the time that it has been in my posession, I must say, it has given me great joy.

Not only is it just a lovely quircky piece that you can throw on for work, a party or just strawling around the town, it's also super on-trend. Its laundry bag-inspired and Céline rip-off print is truly the print of FW1314.

But you know? Somehow I have this feeling that it 'll be the print of my wardrobe for many more seasons to come. The colour scheme makes the pattern more unique et en outre, I just adore it! Yup, this skirt might just be The Skirt for me.

The skirt
Sweater (InWear). Jacket (Urban Outfitters). Skirt (Zara). Booties (L'autre Chose). Sunnies (H&M). Watch (Vintage). Rings (Jozefien). Bracelets (Merci and Six). Magazine (Haper's Bazaar).
