New York Fashion Week (part two)
26 Sept 2012
Oh yes, the legendary Valentino Rockstud Ballerinas have officially become a bit of my life and a part of my shoe collection. They arrived only yesterday, but I am already happy to inform that they fit like a glove and look good with every single item in my wardrobe. They are my first designer items and I can tell you my heart was pounding from excitement when I unwrapped the pretty box they came in and tried them on for the first time! Naturally I took pictures of the event.
Are you just as in love with my Dove Grey flats as I am?

The statement on Leandra Medine's Tee ("All blogs post the same stuff") is certainly interesting, especcially since she's a blogger herself, but I can't say I agree. Sure there's a lot of re-blogging, but there are also a lot of really creative, original and inspiring posts. But then again, she might have meant in an ironic way. In that case I'm just the noop who didn't get the joke :). What do you say?
Anyhow, I love her playful look and here is how you can get it:

I've started working my way through New York, London and Milan Fashion week - boy oh boy, so much to see! - so, here is my first selection of collections I loved at NYFW.
Alexander Wang: Love the cut out fabrics, wide shoulders and black vs. white contrast
Calvin Klein Collection: Feminine yet stuctured shapes make for an interesting silhouette
Marc Jacobs: Great vintage feel, combined with modern prints
Jason Wu: I adore how the transparant, flowy fabrics don't stand in the way of giving the collection a very strict and powerful look. Also those leather straps are genious.
Helmut Lang: Great masculine jackets and "patchwork" fabrics
Karen Walker: Lovely shoes and great metallic accents to give more edgy look to an otherwise girly collection. And the polka dots on polka dots stole my heart!
DKNY: Sporty chic with great accents, like the jacket tied around waist-thing
Charlotte Ronson: Shiny see-through college jackets. Uhm, need I say more?
Diane Von Furstenberg: I love the flowy hareem pants and metallic elements
Derek Lam: That new take on the trench is really awesome and I love the slouchy tops over statement pecil skirts.
Have great weekend y'all! And stay tuned for part two next Friday ;)

I hadn't metioned this, but when I returned from Rome there was a very pleasent surprise waiting for me on the doorstep: A Deauty box!
What is this you say? Well, I'll tell you. Deauty is short for Discover Beauty. It's a new Belgian company that monthly sends boxes with Beauty products for a very democratic price. Perfect for Beauty bloggers, beauticians or plain beauty addicts who love to try out new products. Somehow they got hold of my e-mail address, so I was aible to subscribe to get the first box for free! But this was months ago, so I had forgotten all about it - until it turned up at my front door of course...
So let's see what's inside shall we?
1. Nuxe Cleasing water
This gentil cleanser smells like rose petals and smoothly removes the dirt the day left behind on your face. Leaving your skin calmed and fresh. However it is not strong enough to get rid off waterproof make-up.
2. Redken full effect Nourishing Mousse
I actually haven't tried this one out, because it gives your hair more volume, since I have huge hair, that is about the last thing I need ;)
3. Clarins Hydraquench Intensive serum
This serum is great if you have dry skin or like me, a skin that has been dried out from using to many anti-imperfection creams. I use this one once week after having applied my face mask and I love it!
4. L'Oréal Professional Mythic Oil
I love hair oil in general, it's great to put on as a hair mask, to protect your hair from heat and sun or to give your ends a more healthy look. This one is no exception! Plus it smells great.
5. Essie "Size Matters" Ruby Nail Polish
This one must be my absolute favourite product in the box. I love the colour (it's very on-trend too), the wider brush is very handy and the polish holds very well! After a week mine still look tolerable, and I didn't even put on a topcoat!
Et voilà! I don't think I will be taking a paying subscribtion to these boxes, since my hart lies with fashion and not with beauty. But if you should be interested, you can visit their website here.

I've had such a splendid time in Rome! It really is one of gorgeous cities you immediately fall in love with. The colourfull facades, picturesque alleys, impressive fountains and many beautifully decorated churches swept me off my feet - and then we haven't even started talking food yet... Gelato, fresh pasta, crispy pizza and the perfect latte machiatto - Oh boy, my mouth starts watering again!
Here's small selection of pictures, to give you a little taste of rome through my eyes...

In exactly 8 hours I will arrive in the beautiful city of Rome! Yihaa! This afternoon was of course entirely devoted to packing. And I must say I'm a bit of a nutcase when it comes to packing (but then again, when am I not?) Anyhow, I can't do it without making lists of what I need to pack first.
Next step is to lay eveything out on the bed (boarding tickets are also quite essential!)
And finally cram everything in a teensy wheensy suitcase, though be it in a highly structured manner.
What is your packing ritual?
See you back on Wednesday with a full report!

My fall shopping list is getting longer by the minute. A pantsuit, a militairy jacket and anything in burgundy leather were already on it. And just now I added a pair of wool grey pants, de préférance slightly oversized! Oh and might just add a boxy navy jacket too, for they combine so well, don't you think?
Have a nice week y'all!
